Get ready to shake what your mama gave you at the 4th Annual happening from April 10th to 13th in Charlotte, NC. This isn't your typical weekend gathering. Nope, it's a full-on fiesta of movement with four days packed with dance workshops. We're talking about diving into the rhythmic world of Òrìxà dances and Silvestre Technique with the fabulous Rosangela Silvestre. Oh, and dance aficionados will get to groove to Afro dance with Nildinha Fonseca—yes, the Nildinha from the Folkloric Ballet of Bahia. Plus, there's a crash course in Indigenous Caboclo dances courtesy of Mestre Zé Ricardo and some capoeira magic with the legendary Mestre Jelon and Mestre Alegria. Bring your dancing shoes and maybe a water bottle because this is going to be epic.
But wait, there's more. This year's shindig is not just about kicking up your heels; it's also a heartfelt tribute to the wise ones of the past who have paved the way. We'll be honouring our elders, including the incredible Iyálorixa Mainha da Bahia and Badaro from Viver Brasil. And let's not forget, we're giving a big shout-out to 50 years of capoeira with none other than Mestre Jelon himself. It's a free event, which basically means you have zero excuses to miss out. So mark your calendars for April 10th starting at 5 PM at the Mint Museum Uptown, located at 500 South Tryon Street. You won't want to miss this blend of culture, rhythm, and community.
